Sophie Howse

Sophie completed her Bachelor of Psychology with Honours at Macquarie University in 2000.  Following this she completed
her Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Canberra.
Sophie soon developed an interest in the field of pain management, and started working with the team at CIMC in 2007.  She also has an interest in
general adult psychology including depression, anxiety and stress management.
Sophie lived overseas with her young family in Hong Kong and London for seven years, returning to Canberra during the middle of Covid in 2020 (with the delightful experience of quarantining in a hotel with young children!)  Her life experiences helped her understand the importance of psychological flexibility, self-care, stress management, compassion, humour and resilience.  She returned to work at CIMC in early 2021.
Sophie is friendly and compassionate, and likes to develop practical individualised treatment plans with her clients.  She largely draws from the evidence-based modalities of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, walking the family Dachshund Pickle around the neighbourhood, eating chocolate, and coaching netball games on freezing mornings in the middle of Canberra winters!
